Coated
O-Rings

Ummantelte O-Ringe

General information

If elastomers do not have the required chemical resistance, they can be coated with FEP, PFE, or PTFE. The coating protects the more sensitive elastomer core against chemical and mechanical influences. The elastomer core itself ensures the necessary flexibility of the O-ring.

We offer coated O-rings with silicone or FKM cores as standard.

The FKM core has very good compression set, i.e. the ability to return to its original shape after deformation. However, it should be noted that coated O-rings have poorer DVR than elastomer rings without coating.
The silicone core offers greater flexibility, better heat resistance, and excellent cold flexibility.

Due to their lower compressibility and elasticity, coated O-rings require greater care during installation. If necessary, heating them to approx. 80°C to 100°C (e.g. in hot water or oil) can simplify installation and reduce the risk of installation-related damage.
